Google Cloud's Office of the CTO (OCTO) is seeking a Principal Engineer to create and reinforce human pathways between Google Engineering and strategic customers/partners. This role involves converting loosely defined market opportunities into new, technology-enabled businesses. The ideal candidate will have 15 years of experience in software, hardware, or infrastructure engineering, focusing on technical innovation and engineering leadership. They will partner with Engineering and Product teams to identify strategic opportunities, help customers adopt cutting-edge cloud and AI technologies, and inspire others through sharing experiences. The role requires expertise in building AI products, leading strategic initiatives, coaching executive technical leaders, and transitioning first-of products to scaled platforms. The position offers the opportunity to work with Google's most promising technology and help shape the future of both customers' businesses and Google itself. Responsibilities For Principal, Specialized Software, AI, Office of the CTO

  • Create and reinforce the human pathways between Google Engineering and our strategic customers and partners
  • Partner with Engineering and Product teams to identify and test strategic, horizontal opportunities for differentiation across roadmaps
  • Identify future state-of-cloud products and partner closely with technical teams to chart how we'd bring those future states to life
  • Help our most strategic customers and partners work through the complexity of adopting cutting edge cloud and AI technologies through expert advice
  • Inspire others to work through difficult and disruptive endeavors through sharing experiences, successes, failures and the human side of advanced technology development and adoption

Requirements For Principal, Specialized Software, AI, Office of the CTO

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 15 years of experience in software, hardware, or infrastructure engineering, with a focus on technical innovation and engineering leadership
  • Experience in building AI products
  • Experience leading and directing strategic initiatives without authority
  • Experience coaching executive technical leaders and senior practitioners on cloud and AI adoption, leverage, benefits, and pitfalls
  • Experience transitioning first-of products to scaled products and platforms, impacting the product and business strategy of an organization
