Description For Product Design Engineer, Pixel Camera Actuator

Google's Camera Hardware team within the Tech Engineering Imaging and Vision (TEIV) group is seeking a Product Design Engineer to join their Pixel camera actuator development team. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with consumer electronics innovation, focusing on developing cutting-edge camera components and modules for Google's Pixel products.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on the entire lifecycle of camera actuator projects, from new technology development to roadmap products. As the mechanical design subject matter expert, you'll lead the mechanical design and control system development of camera actuators, ensuring optimal performance, robustness, and tolerance analysis.

The role involves collaboration with internal cross-functional teams and external partners, working on everything from concept to mass production. You'll be responsible for developing mechanical solutions that meet product integration requirements, including performance, reliability, thermal, and electromagnetic coexistence goals. The position requires expertise in mechanical failure analysis and the ability to drive corrective actions.

Working within the Google Pixel team, you'll be part of a group focused on delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. Responsibilities For Product Design Engineer, Pixel Camera Actuator

  • Work with internal cross-functional teams and external partners to define, design and lead the camera actuator mechanical design and Auto Focus/Optical Image Stabilization development from concept to mass production
  • Develop mechanical solutions that achieve product integration requirements, including performance, reliability, thermal, and electromagnetic coexistence goals
  • Conduct mechanical failure analysis and drive corrective actions
  • Lead and collaborate with technology partners and vendors to advance camera actuator design technology

Requirements For Product Design Engineer, Pixel Camera Actuator

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience in mechanical product design for consumer electronics, camera modules, or voice coil motor design
  • 1 year of experience using mechanical 3D/2D CAD (e.g., NX, ProE/Creo, SolidWorks, Catia)
  • English proficiency is required
