Description For Program Manager, Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety

Google is seeking a Program Manager for Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety to join their Data Center team. This role combines program management expertise with environmental health and safety oversight for construction projects. The position offers a competitive salary range of $139,000-$207,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in both program management and EHS field safety management. They will be responsible for developing and implementing EHS programs across a defined area, working closely with Data Center partners, contractors, and various technical teams. The role involves strategic planning, risk mitigation, and ensuring safety performance meets Google's high standards.

The Data Center team at Google designs and operates some of the world's most sophisticated electrical and HVAC systems. As part of this diverse and creative team, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include monitoring contractor safety performance, driving a culture of continuous learning, and collaborating with the wider Construction EHS team to implement best practices.

  • Lead the development and ownership of the EHS program for area construction oversight and data collection
  • Ensure that contractors deliver on program safety performance expectations and agreement requirements, providing solutions to issues
  • Monitor, advise, and assist the construction project teams to protect people, environment, and ensure compliance
  • Drive a culture that embraces a continuous learning approach and aligns with organizational strategies including goals and objectives
  • Collaborate with the wider Construction EHS team to ensure best practices are implemented, progress reported, trends and data captured and analyzed, and risks mitigated

Requirements For Program Manager, Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management
  • 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) on field safety management
  • Experience in implementing programs to manage EHS construction and operational risks
