Description For Program Manager, Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety

Google is seeking a Program Manager for Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety to join their Data Center team. This role involves leading complex EHS programs across construction projects, working with various stakeholders including contractors, trades, and internal teams. The position requires strong experience in EHS management and program implementation, with a focus on construction safety.

The role is based in Ciudad de la Costa Canelones Department, Uruguay, where you'll be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying Environmental Health and Safety programs. You'll work closely with Google Data Center partners and various contractors to improve EHS programs and performance on projects. The position involves pre-qualification evaluations, project manual updates, and regular stakeholder communication.

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in both program management and EHS field safety management. They should possess a Bachelor's degree and demonstrated experience in implementing EHS programs. Preferred qualifications include Certified Safety Professional certification and 10 years of EHS management experience.

Responsibilities For Program Manager, Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety

  • Lead the development and ownership of the EHS program for area construction oversight and data collection
  • Ensure that contractors deliver on program safety performance expectations and contract requirements
  • Monitor, advise and assist the construction project teams to protect people, environment, and ensure compliance
  • Drive a culture that embraces a continuous learning approach and aligns with organizational strategies
  • Collaborate with the Construction EHS team to ensure practices are implemented, progress reported, trends and data captured and analyzed

Requirements For Program Manager, Construction Area Environmental Health and Safety

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management
  • 5 years of experience in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) on field safety management
  • Experience in implementing programs to manage EHS construction and operational risks
  • Certified Safety Professional certification or other applicable EHS certification (preferred)
  • Understanding of project management process and basic construction contract structures
