Description For Program Manager II, Industrial Design, Platforms and Devices

Google's Devices & Services team is seeking a Design Program Manager to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects in Industrial Design. This role involves coordinating with Industrial Designers, CMF Designers, UX Designers, Researchers, and Engineers to deliver innovative hardware solutions. The position offers a competitive base salary range of $117,000-$172,000 plus comprehensive benefits, bonus, and equity.

As a Design Program Manager, you'll be responsible for shepherding projects through the design process, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring successful project delivery. You'll work closely with executives and team leads to plan requirements, define milestones, and manage resources effectively. The role requires strong experience in program management, particularly in industrial design and creative projects.

The position is part of Google's Devices & Services team, which combines the best of Google AI, Software, and Hardware to create radically helpful experiences for users. Responsibilities For Program Manager II, Industrial Design, Platforms and Devices

  • Collaborate and support design team leads in delivering trust-building, strategic counsel through all project interactions
  • Act as a bridge between the ID Team and CMF, UX, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams
  • Identify team and project needs with regards to process, tools, documentation, asset management
  • Collaborate with ID team leadership in key project decision-making
  • Define and manage project schedules and budgets from inception to completion
  • Vendor liaison administration duties such as budget, SOW, PO management, and vendor enrollment

Requirements For Program Manager II, Industrial Design, Platforms and Devices

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in program or project management
  • Experience managing industrial design, color/material/finish or creative projects
  • 2 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects (preferred)
  • Experience working in consumer electronics (preferred)
  • Experience with design tools, software, and prototyping methods at varied fidelity (preferred)
  • Knowledge of user centered design processes and iterative development processes (preferred)
