Description For Security Engineer, Detection, Security Surveillance

Google's Security Surveillance team (SST) is seeking a Security Engineer to join their mission of protecting Google's network and systems from threats. This role combines hands-on security monitoring with proactive threat hunting and tool development. As a Security Engineer, you'll be part of a global 24/7 operation, working with cutting-edge security systems and collaborating with teams across Google. You'll be responsible for identifying security issues, implementing controls, and developing new detection capabilities. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Detection, Security Surveillance

  • Identify security issues and implement and design security controls, tools, and services to improve security systems and processes
  • Participate in a 24/7 global operation that hunts for and responds to security events on Google's networks
  • Perform investigations on a wide variety of events from various sources to determine whether they pose a threat to Google
  • Work with teams from around Google to discover new detection capabilities and logging sources
  • Create and develop new tooling to enable scaling of detection capabilities

Requirements For Security Engineer, Detection, Security Surveillance

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
  • 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
  • 2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
