Description For Security Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud Compliance

Google is seeking a Security Engineer for their Google Distributed Cloud Compliance team. This role is part of the Security team that works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. The ideal candidate will have experience in security assessments, security engineering, and compliance.

The Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) air-gapped solution aims to serve customers who want to use hyperscale Cloud while retaining some workloads on-premises due to regulations, policies, or geopolitical reasons. This role will involve working on a managed offering that provides a consistent development and operational experience with GCP, extending into various data center environments.

Key responsibilities include reviewing regulatory framework changes, conducting implementation reviews, identifying compliance process improvements, participating in compliance meetings, and contributing to certification audits. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security engineering, compliance, and coding.

Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud Compliance

  • Review requirements changes across relevant regulatory frameworks and technical standards and determine their applicability to GDC
  • Conduct implementation reviews and report on their findings
  • Identify opportunities for compliance process improvements, initiate and drive engineering projects for their implementation (monitoring solutions, audit tooling, reporting and alerting, generations and collection of audit evidence)
  • Participate in compliance meetings between the GDC Compliance and GDC engineering teams and contribute subject matter expertise to support decision making
  • Participate in certification audits and security assessment to contribute compliance related engineering knowledge

Requirements For Security Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud Compliance

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
  • 2 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
  • 2 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
  • 1 year of experience in compliance
