Description For Security Engineer, Infrastructure Protection

Google is seeking a Security Engineer to join their Infrastructure Protection team within the Core organization. This role is crucial in maintaining Google's secure operating environment and production infrastructure. As part of the Core team, you'll work on the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products, focusing on security assessments, vulnerability testing, and infrastructure protection.

The position involves conducting technical assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate security risks across Google's vast production infrastructure. You'll collaborate with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws, develop features for security assessment platforms, and build automation for security issue detection and remediation.

The Core team has a unique mandate to impact technical decisions across Google, working on underlying design elements, developer platforms, and infrastructure. You'll be part of a team that breaks down technical barriers and strengthens existing systems, ensuring Google's production infrastructure meets the highest security standards.

This role offers competitive compensation, including a base salary range of $114,000-$168,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Security Engineer, Infrastructure Protection

  • Conduct technical assessments, code reviews, and vulnerability testing to identify risks
  • Perform and research Google's Production Infrastructure for security vulnerabilities, or insecure usage patterns
  • Develop features for Google's large-scale security assessment platform
  • Consult and partner with other security teams to secure Google's Production environment
  • Build automation to detect and remediate security issues

Requirements For Security Engineer, Infrastructure Protection

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
  • 1 year of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
  • Experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
