Description For Senior Physical Design Engineer, Mixed Signal, Silicon

Google is seeking a Senior Physical Design Engineer to join their hardware team focused on developing custom silicon solutions for consumer products. This role combines hardware expertise with Google's cutting-edge AI and software capabilities to create next-generation computing experiences. The position requires deep knowledge of physical design, including PnR/APR, STA, and EMIR tools/flows, along with experience in scripting languages like Python and Tcl.

The ideal candidate will work on generating high-quality Place and Route results for digital blocks, monitor timing, analyze power integrity, and implement fixes for identified issues. They'll collaborate closely with front-end designers and back-end physical design integration engineers to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

This role offers the opportunity to work on products that impact millions of users worldwide, with access to Google's vast resources and innovative technology stack. The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 5 years of physical design experience, with preferred experience in low-power design techniques, advanced ECO techniques, and scaled CMOS processes.

Responsibilities For Senior Physical Design Engineer, Mixed Signal, Silicon

  • Generate high-quality Place and Route (PnR)/Automated Privacy Review (APR) results for digital blocks
  • Monitor timing of blocks with modern Static Timing Analysis (STA) tools and techniques
  • Analyze power integrity Electromagnetic Interference and Radio Frequency Interference (EMIR) of blocks
  • Analyze designs based on key metrics, including power, area, and performance trade-off
  • Apply engineering best practices to the design and implementation of ASIC blocks

Requirements For Senior Physical Design Engineer, Mixed Signal, Silicon

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in physical design
  • Experience with PnR/APR, STA, EMIR, and DRC tools/flows working on synthesized designs
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages (e.g., Tcl, Python, etc.)
