Google Cloud Product Security Engineering (PSE) is seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their Cloud Advanced Security Engineering team. This role is crucial in protecting Google Cloud Platform from threats and ensuring the security of Google's infrastructure at a planetary scale. The position involves working with cutting-edge security technologies and frameworks to detect, prevent, and mitigate various forms of cyber threats.
The role requires extensive experience in security engineering, with responsibilities including researching and implementing new detection techniques for malicious activities, developing high-fidelity threat detection systems, and managing security tools. You'll be working with network equipment, monitoring systems for attacks, and collaborating with software engineers to identify and fix security vulnerabilities.
As part of the Cloud Advanced Security Engineering team, you'll be responsible for safeguarding not only Google's infrastructure but also its customers and users from potential threats. The position offers competitive compensation, including a base salary range of $197,000-$291,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits.
The ideal candidate should have 8 years of experience in security engineering and coding, with proven expertise in security assessments, threat modeling, and technical team leadership. Knowledge of defensive security concepts, including the MITRE ATT&CK framework, is highly valued. Responsibilities For Senior Security Engineer, Cloud Threat Detection
- Research new detection techniques to prevent/mitigate abusive activities such as outbound security attacks, botnet, Denial-of-Service (DDoS) and other malicious behaviors which violate GCP's Terms of Service
- Develop high fidelity detection to identify malicious activity based on raw network and host level telemetry
- Analyze various logs and packets to increase accuracy of detections
- Hunt for threats/abusers and respond proactively
- Create, develop and manage tools to collect and process abuse reports and threat intelligence data
Requirements For Senior Security Engineer, Cloud Threat Detection
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 8 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling
- 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols
- 8 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages
- 3 years of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment
- Knowledge of defensive security concepts such as adversity tactic and technique, MITRE ATT&CK framework, logging etc.
