Google's Core team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Open Source Security Team (GOSST). This role focuses on developing next-generation technologies that impact billions of users' connectivity and interactions. You'll work on rebuilding infrastructure and signal generation capability for packages and ecosystems critical to Google and Google Cloud Platform. The position involves collaboration across GOSST, Managed Open Source Software (MOSS), Information Security Engineering (ISE), and COE teams. As part of the Core team, you'll help build the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products, working on underlying design elements, developer platforms, and infrastructure. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence technical decisions across the company and drive innovation in open source security. Responsibilities For Senior Software Engineer, Open Source Security
- Write and test product or system development code
- Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues
Requirements For Senior Software Engineer, Open Source Security
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages and with data structures/algorithms
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
- 1 year of experience with software design and architecture
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
- Experience developing accessible technologies and with open-source software development (preferred)
- Experience with core infrastructure, enterprise, and cloud technologies (preferred)
- Experience in security engineering, computer and network security, authentication protocols, and applied cryptography (preferred)
