Google Labs is seeking a Senior Staff Visual Designer to lead the visual design efforts for their innovative Characters team. Working within Google's User Experience (UX) team, you'll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers. The team follows Google's core premise: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." You'll be instrumental in developing and maintaining a scalable design system while ensuring brand consistency and efficient iteration.
The position offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $214,000 to $305,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Located in either San Francisco or New York, you'll be part of Google Labs, a forward-thinking group focused on incubating early-stage efforts and exploring new technologies to advance Google's core products.

Responsibilities For Senior Staff Visual Designer, Google Labs
- Lead the complete visual design process for innovative interactive products, from initial concept to final handoff
- Develop and implement novel User Experience (UX) patterns specifically tailored for AI-powered products and interactive characters
- Partner with Product Managers, UX Researchers, and Engineers to advocate user-centered design
- Create and maintain a robust and scalable design system
- Integrate core design principles with cutting-edge technologies like AI to drive product innovation
Requirements For Senior Staff Visual Designer, Google Labs
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- 10 years of experience in product design or UX
- Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume
- Experience launching consumer interactive products (preferred)
- Experience with motion graphics software (e.g., Rive, After Effects) (preferred)
- Experience working on, or designing for AI-powered products (preferred)
- Experience with tools and methods related to Generative AI (preferred)
- Understanding of animation principles (preferred)
- Excellent storytelling skills (preferred)
