Google Cloud's Systems Research Group (SRG) is seeking a Senior Systems Research Engineer to shape the future of hyperscaler systems design. In this role, you will focus on inventing, incubating, and infusing new concepts, designs, and technologies into Google's applications, systems, and data centers. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams, as well as external research communities, to work on pressing systems-research problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Participating in team projects for system design, analysis, and prototype building
- Demonstrating advantages and revealing issues of technologies for data center and modern Cloud environments, including machine learning
- Contributing to research and development exploring emerging technologies and systems
The ideal candidate should have:
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience (PhD preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in software development with strong knowledge of data structures/algorithms
- 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products
- 1+ year of experience with software design and architecture
- Experience with storage systems, memory systems, network systems, novel I/O systems, or platform architectures
- Familiarity with the intersection of Machine Learning and computer systems
- Publications in top venues in the systems field (e.g., SOSP, OSDI, ISCA, MICRO, ASPLOS, EUROSYS, PLDI, SIGCOMM, NSDI)
