Senior Systems Research Engineer

Google Cloud's Systems Research Group (SRG) is seeking a Senior Systems Research Engineer to shape the future of hyperscaler systems design. This role is positioned in the heart of Google's Cloud and Infrastructure engineering organization, focusing on inventing, incubating, and infusing new concepts, designs, and technologies into Google's applications, systems, and data centers.

As a Senior Systems Research Engineer, you will:

• Collaborate with engineering and product teams, as well as external research communities, on pressing systems-research problems.
• Work on projects critical to Google Cloud's needs, with opportunities to switch teams and projects as the business evolves.
• Anticipate customer needs and be empowered to act like an owner, take action, and innovate.
• Focus on developing next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.

The ideal candidate should have experience in areas such as:

• Storage systems, memory systems, network systems, novel I/O systems, or platform architectures including persistent memory (NVRAM), accelerators, and other emerging technologies.
• Intersection of Machine Learning (ML) and computer systems (e.g., ML for systems or systems for ML).
• Authoring well-known and respected papers in top venues in the systems field.

This role offers a competitive salary range of $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits, determined by factors such as location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
