Description For Silicon Debug Engineer

Google is seeking a Silicon Debug Engineer to join their hardware team focused on developing custom silicon solutions for direct-to-consumer products. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and performance of Google's hardware products that are used by millions worldwide.

As a Silicon Debug Engineer, you'll be responsible for post-silicon validation and debugging, working at the intersection of hardware and software. You'll collaborate with various teams including Design and Validation leads, test engineers, and contract manufacturers to ensure product quality and successful silicon volume ramp.

The ideal candidate should have a strong background in electrical engineering or computer science, with specific expertise in C programming and silicon validation. Experience with embedded systems, Android, Linux, or RTOSes is highly valued. Responsibilities For Silicon Debug Engineer

  • Perform post-silicon error debugging to support the silicon volume ramp at the system level
  • Collaborate with Design and Validation leads to root cause the failure
  • Collaborate with internal test engineers, partner engineers, and contract manufacturers on screening parts, debugging RMAs, signing-off on releases
  • Collect the post-silicon characterization data to improve the production quality and yield

Requirements For Silicon Debug Engineer

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience in C programming
  • Experience with developing silicon validation tests and debugging post-silicon issues
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or with relevant field (preferred)
  • Experience with embedded software development and related tool chains (preferred)
  • Experience with Android, Embedded Linux, RTOSes or bare metal software (preferred)
