Description For Silicon Hardware Lab Manager

Google Cloud is seeking a Silicon Hardware Lab Manager to join their diverse team that pushes boundaries in developing custom silicon solutions for Google's direct-to-consumer products. As a Silicon Hardware Lab Manager, you will work with a team of hardware test engineers responsible for prototype bring-up, validation, and qualification of server, networking, and optical platforms.

Your role will involve managing lab resources, ensuring readiness for new products, and supporting ongoing efforts. You'll be the liaison between engineering design and test teams, ensuring efficient use of lab resources and maintaining a safe, organized working environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing hardware components and materials for project builds
  • Collaborating on new lab setups and service implementations
  • Documenting lab layouts and prioritizing tasks in project plans
  • Ensuring lab readiness for new products in R&D
  • Supporting sustaining and debug efforts

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering)
  • At least 2 years of experience in a hardware or silicon engineering lab
  • Experience with network switch configuration, electrical systems, and lab management

Responsibilities For Silicon Hardware Lab Manager

  • Receive and manage hardware components and material for project builds and disperse hardware per allocation plan
  • Work with teams bringing up new labs and services, tasks include documenting lab layout and prioritizing tasks in project plans
  • Liaison between engineering design and test teams to ensure lab resources are accounted for
  • Ensure labs are 'lab-ready' for new products entering the research and development labs
  • Support sustaining and debug efforts
  • Ensure the labs are well organized and operating in a safe working environment

Requirements For Silicon Hardware Lab Manager

Linux
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware or silicon engineering lab, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • Experience in the configuration of network switches (e.g., Arista)
  • Experience with electrical systems, test equipment, and lab management and maintenance
