Description For Silicon Validation Engineer, TPU

Google is seeking a Silicon Validation Engineer to join their Technical Infrastructure team, specifically focusing on TPU (Tensor Processing Unit) technology. This role is at the forefront of AI/ML hardware acceleration, working on custom silicon solutions that power Google's most demanding AI/ML applications.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to shape the future of AI hardware, working with cutting-edge TPU technology that powers Google's AI/ML applications. You'll be part of the Technical Infrastructure team, which is fundamental to keeping Google's vast architecture running smoothly. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining data centers and building next-generation Google platforms.

As a Silicon Validation Engineer, you'll be responsible for developing and implementing detailed silicon test plans, working closely with cross-functional teams including architecture, design, software, and firmware. You'll develop software tests for system validation and verification, characterize HBM operations in test chips and production silicon, and solve complex technical challenges.

The role requires a strong background in electrical engineering or computer science, with experience in Python programming and computer architecture. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree with an emphasis on computer architecture and experience with hardware description languages like SystemVerilog.

This position offers competitive compensation including a base salary range of $108,000-$158,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Located in Sunnyvale, CA, you'll be working at the heart of Silicon Valley with some of the industry's brightest minds in AI hardware development.

Responsibilities For Silicon Validation Engineer, TPU

  • Develop detailed silicon test plans based on design specifications and coordination with cross functional silicon team
  • Implement test plans by developing software tests and flows for system validation and verification
  • Collect data and characterize the operation of HBMs in test chips and production silicon
  • Triage and debug issues found during new product development and find solutions

Requirements For Silicon Validation Engineer, TPU

Python
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience scripting in Python or equivalent programming language
  • Computer architecture or semiconductor experience
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Computer Science preferred
  • 2 years of experience with C++ or Python software design principles preferred
  • Experience with reading hardware description languages (SystemVerilog) and chip design flow
  • Experience building test automation tools and scripts
  • Enthusiasm for unusual computer architectures
