Google is seeking a Software Developer III to join their Core team, which is responsible for building the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. This role focuses on developing and maintaining critical infrastructure and distributed systems that power Google's services used by billions of users worldwide.

The position offers an opportunity to work on large-scale systems and contribute to the essential building blocks that drive innovation across Google's products. As a Software Developer III, you'll be involved in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions that form the backbone of Google's infrastructure. The role requires expertise in distributed computing, system design, and software development.

The Core team holds a unique position within Google, having the mandate to impact technical decisions across the company. You'll work on central solutions that break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. The compensation package is competitive, ranging from $141,000 to $202,000 base salary, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The position offers the opportunity to work from several locations including Sunnyvale, CA, Waterloo, ON, and Atlanta, GA.

Key responsibilities include writing system development code, leading design reviews, code review, documentation, and problem-solving at scale. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in software development, strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms, and experience with large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.

Requirements For Software Developer III, Infrastructure, Core

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • 2 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging (preferred)
  • Experience developing accessible technologies (preferred)
  • Proficiency in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test developing (preferred)
