Description For Software Engineer II, Front End, Payments

Google is seeking a Software Engineer II for their Front End Payments team in Bengaluru, India. This role is part of Google's mission to develop next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be working on critical projects related to Google's payment technologies, including online payments with Autofill, tap and pay in stores, and the Google Pay app. The Payments team is focused on making payments simple, seamless, and secure, as well as powering money movement between Google and its consumers and businesses.

Your responsibilities will include writing product or system development code, participating in design reviews, reviewing code from other developers, contributing to documentation, and troubleshooting system issues. You'll need to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic about taking on new problems across the full-stack.

The ideal candidate will have at least a Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience, 1 year of experience with software development in languages like Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript, and 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms. Preferred qualifications include a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, experience with front-end frameworks and full-stack development, and experience developing accessible technologies.

  • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency)
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality
