Description For Software Engineer III, Cloud Logging Backend

Google is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their Cloud Logging Backend team, offering a competitive salary range of $136,000-$200,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. This role is part of Google's Technical Infrastructure team, which is fundamental to maintaining and developing the architecture that powers Google's vast product portfolio.

The position requires a skilled engineer with at least 2 years of experience in software development, with particular emphasis on infrastructure, distributed systems, and C++ programming. The role involves working on critical projects within Google's Cloud division, which serves customers in over 200 countries and territories, helping organizations digitally transform their businesses using Google's cutting-edge technology.

As a Software Engineer III, you'll be responsible for writing system development code, participating in design reviews, and ensuring best practices through code reviews. You'll also contribute to documentation and handle system issues, requiring strong problem-solving and debugging skills. The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, strong foundations in data structures and algorithms, and experience with infrastructure or distributed systems.   • Write product or system development code
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Cloud Logging Backend

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with developing infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture
  • Experience coding in C++
