Google's Geo team is seeking a Software Engineer III to join their Mobile (Android) division. This role is integral to building the most accurate and comprehensive mapping solutions including Google Maps, Earth, Street View, and Google Maps Platform, which serve over a billion users monthly.

As a Software Engineer III, you'll be part of a team that's solving complex computer science problems and designing intuitive product experiences to improve our understanding of the real world. You'll work on critical projects with opportunities to switch teams as both you and our fast-paced business evolve.

The role demands technical expertise in Android development, with responsibilities spanning across writing code, conducting code reviews, contributing to documentation, troubleshooting system issues, and participating in design reviews. You'll be working with cutting-edge technologies in areas including distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, data storage, and mobile development.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer III, Mobile (Android), Geo

  • Write product or system development code
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Mobile (Android), Geo

Java

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development (preferred)
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging (preferred)
  • Experience developing accessible technologies (preferred)
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
