Description For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day.

In this role, you will work closely with Android Platform, Pixel Hardware, Google Chips (gChips), and external partner teams to bring the best of Android to users, on Google's Pixel phones. You will be responsible for all display matters for Pixel devices such as on-device software stack, from bootloader drivers up to the settings app, driving several hardware modules from accelerators in Google Tensor (e.g., Google's in-house mobile System on Chip) through to display panels.

Responsibilities For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

  • Drive complete development cycles of new pixel display projects, from requirements and design through implementation and establishing test plans.
  • Architect and implement features such as variable refresh rate, colour management and calibration, High dynamic range (HDR), image enhancement methods, and more.
  • Collaborate closely with Android Platform teams on enabling new generations of Pixel such as surfaceflinger, display and graphics HALs, etc.
  • Develop the team's infrastructure by implementing new systems in areas such as telemetry, on-device diagnostics, and updatability.
  • Develop expertise in display technologies and System on a Chip (SoC), and productize them in future Pixel devices.

Requirements For Software Engineer III, Pixel Display System

Java
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
  • 2 years of experience with Android application development.
