  • Improve the Chrome media experience for users, including definition and design of new features or capabilities
  • Contribute to web standard Application programming interface (APIs)
  • Engage with industry leading partners to ensure we are meeting real needs
  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the organization's goals
  • Align strategy, processes, and selection-making across teams
  • Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role
  • Meet with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching
  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback

Requirements For Software Engineering Manager, Chrome Media

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
  • 2 years of experience in people management, supervision/team leadership role
  • Experience with Chromium based browsers or other browser technology
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience with software development (preferred)
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization (preferred)
  • Experience with audio, video capture, decoding, rendering, or transmission (preferred)
  • Experience with the web standards process (preferred)
