Description For Software Engineering Manager, Google Compute Engine

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for the Google Compute Engine team, specifically for the Managed Infrastructure and Automation (MIAU) team within the Control Plane. This role combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing projects and managing a team of engineers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with at least 8 years of experience in programming languages such as Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript. They should also have 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role and 2 years in people management or team leadership.

Key responsibilities include:

The MIAU team focuses on empowering customers and internal Google Cloud Platform services through reliable, cost-effective, and user-friendly virtual machine management solutions. They build and maintain backend components for provisioning and orchestrating virtual machines, including Google Batch, a system for executing batch jobs on managed Google Cloud resources.

This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally, contributing to Google Cloud's mission of accelerating digital transformation for organizations worldwide. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with a Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related field being preferred.
