Description For Software Engineering Manager, Payments

Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for their Payments Platform team. This role involves leading a team of engineers focused on building and optimizing the payments platform used across Google properties. The position requires technical expertise to take on major projects and manage a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team working on new payment protocols, streamlining purchase experiences, and optimizing payment success rates.
  • Influence decisions regarding the integration of Forms of Payment (FoPs) in the platform.
  • Contribute to design and implementation of solutions for new FoPs, improved user experiences, and optimizations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior team members.
  • Support full-stack development for FoPs and buyflows.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of software development experience in languages like Python, C, C++, Java, or JavaScript
  • 3 years in a technical leadership role, with 2 years in people management
  • Experience with Linux/Unix development (preferred)
  • Knowledge of payments protocols, compliance, and security (preferred)
  • Ability to learn new coding languages as needed

Responsibilities For Software Engineering Manager, Payments

  • Lead a team of engineers working on bringing new payment protocols to Payments Platform, streamlining the purchase experience, and optimizing the payment success rate
