Description For Software Engineering Manager, Risk and Compliance Engineering

Google's Core team is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Risk and Compliance Engineering initiatives. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on building and maintaining critical systems that keep users safe while ensuring compliance with various regulations. The position offers a unique opportunity to work across the full technical stack, from processing massive datasets to developing user interfaces, all while leading a team of talented engineers.

The role is part of Google's Core team, which is responsible for building the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. As a manager, you'll be instrumental in developing new products within an organization that drives significant impact by maintaining user safety and calculating risk and compliance indicators. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies and have the opportunity to influence technical decisions across the company.

Responsibilities For Software Engineering Manager, Risk and Compliance Engineering

  • Establish and follow software development best practices and a robust engineering culture
  • Participate in the definition, design, and development of the next generation of Alphabet's risk and compliance products
  • Work with both back end and front end, learning the main technologies in Google's software development stack
  • Work closely with our UX team to ensure our products reflect product excellence and are accessible

Requirements For Software Engineering Manager, Risk and Compliance Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript)
  • 1.5 years of experience in a leadership role
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
  • 1 year of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization (preferred)
  • Experience developing large-scale systems, with large data processing or complex UX flows with users (preferred)
