Google is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Wear Engineering Productivity team in Bucharest. This role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on improving developer velocity and infrastructure for Google's wearable technology division. The position requires 8 years of software development experience and 3 years of technical leadership.

As a Software Engineering Manager in the Wear Engineering Productivity team, you'll work at the intersection of wearable technology and developer infrastructure. You'll lead a team of engineers focused on improving build systems, testing frameworks, and release processes for Google's next generation of wearable devices.   • Set and communicate team priorities that support the organization's goals
  • Set clear expectations with individuals and provide feedback and coaching
  • Develop the mid-term technical goal and roadmap within the scope of the team
  • Lead a team of Software and Test Engineers focused on improving developer velocity, scalability and testability for Wearables
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the product life cycle and define team strategy for developer tools and test infrastructure

Requirements For Software Engineering Manager, Wear Engineering Productivity

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role
  • 2 years of experience in people management/team leadership role
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field (preferred)
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization (preferred)
  • Experience in driving engineering productivity objectives
  • Experience working on improving quality and performance of android or mobile devices
  • Excellent communication skills and cross-functional collaboration
