Description For Staff Application Engineer, Spaces Engineering

Google's Spaces Engineering team is seeking a Staff Application Engineer to lead the development, integration, and maintenance of complex enterprise systems within the Real Estate and Workplace Services (REWS) domain. This is a senior technical leadership role where you'll be responsible for driving innovation and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of REWS applications.

As part of Corp Eng, Google's IT organization, you'll be working on building world-leading business solutions that scale Google's internal operations. The role requires extensive experience in Java or Python programming, with a focus on system design, API development, and enterprise architecture. You'll be responsible for developing internal solutions, implementing integration strategies, and ensuring compliance with relevant controls and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have at least 12 years of experience and a strong background in software system design and enterprise architecture. You'll be working with stakeholders across REWS and other functions to translate complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on systems that directly impact Google's workplace operations and contribute to the company's growth.

Responsibilities For Staff Application Engineer, Spaces Engineering

  • Drive the development of internal solutions using custom front-end and back-end services to automate and improve REWS business processes
  • Design and implement integration strategies that connect diverse systems and platforms, enabling seamless data flow and process automation across REWS
  • Define and enforce processes and solutions to ensure compliance with relevant controls and regulations, safeguarding data integrity and security within REWS applications
  • Take ownership of the entire lifecycle of integrating vendor-supplied applications, including system design, research, evaluation, recommendations, and implementation
  • Lead efforts to design and develop features that enhance the reliability and performance of REWS applications and systems
  • Work with stakeholders across REWS and other functions to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions

Requirements For Staff Application Engineer, Spaces Engineering

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience
  • 12 years of experience in Java or Python
  • Experience in Software System Design, Application programming interface (API) Development, Enterprise Architecture Development and Software Development Lifecycle
  • Experience with real estate management systems or integrated workplace management systems
