Google's Search Community organization is seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join their Community Data Science team. This role is crucial in bringing fresh, authentic, and relatable content to Google Search by leveraging User Generated Content (UGC) from social media platforms and authoritative publishers. The team utilizes Google's AI foundation to enhance Search results through Community-owned features and curated content.

The position focuses on three main areas: product partnership, strategic analysis, and metrics. You'll work directly with Product and Engineering leads to launch innovative features on Google Search, analyze user behavior regarding UGC consumption, and develop critical metrics for decision-making. This role offers the opportunity to impact billions of users globally while solving complex data challenges.

As a Staff Data Scientist, you'll be responsible for designing and executing A/B tests, developing mathematical models, and conducting sophisticated data analysis to drive product decisions. The position offers a competitive compensation package including a base salary range of $177,000-$266,000, plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. Responsibilities For Staff Data Scientist, Search Community

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to design and execute A/B tests, analyze experimental results to validate assumptions, measure product efficacy, and inform launch decisions
  • Use custom data infrastructure or existing data models as appropriate, using specialized knowledge
  • Gather information, business goals, priorities, and organizational context around the questions to answer
  • Own the process of gathering, extracting, and compiling data across sources via relevant tools
  • Conduct headroom analyses to assess the potential impact of new product concepts and contribute to project prioritization

Requirements For Staff Data Scientist, Search Community

Python
  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding, querying databases, or statistical analysis, or 6 years of experience with a PhD degree
  • Experience designing A/B tests, analyzing experimental results to validate assumptions, measuring product efficacy, and informing product decisions
  • Experience working with consumer-facing technical products
