Description For Staff Developer Relations Engineering Manager, Google Cloud

As a Staff Developer Relations Engineering Manager for Google Cloud, you will lead a team of practitioners that empathize deeply with external technical communities and advocate on their behalf to Google Cloud Product and Engineering teams. Your role involves ensuring that products are built to meet community needs and provide the best possible user and developer experiences. You will work to raise awareness of Cloud technologies and methodologies within technical communities through enablement and inspiration, and drive strategy around Google Developer Relations efforts for specific communities and products.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Assisting technical communities as a practitioner with deep understanding of their needs.
  2. Representing community needs throughout the product lifecycle.
  3. Working with Product and Engineering teams to define strategies and craft narratives for new products and features.
  4. Building and fostering an external 'community ecosystem' of influencers, meetups, and experts.
  5. Advocating for your community internally and directing Google Cloud product strategy by collaborating with cross-functional teams.

This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and community engagement. You'll be at the forefront of Google Cloud technologies, bridging the gap between external developers and internal teams to drive innovation and improve product offerings.

Responsibilities For Staff Developer Relations Engineering Manager, Google Cloud

  • Assist in technical communities as a practitioner having, or developing, deep understanding of that community's needs
  • Represent the needs of relevant technical communities throughout the entire product lifecycle - including input on design discussions, customer zero testing, launch, post-launch updates
  • Work with Product and Engineering teams to define product strategies and to craft narratives around new products and features
  • Build and foster an external 'community ecosystem' of influencers, meetups, experts that amplify our messages and extend our reach
  • Advocate for your community internally and direct Google Cloud product strategy by working with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, Customer Engagement, Go-To Market and other cross-functional teams

Requirements For Staff Developer Relations Engineering Manager, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of work experience in a technical role (e.g., software engineering, solutions consultant, etc.) or equivalent technical experience
  • 7 years of experience work on Cloud technologies
  • 5 years of experience with direct people management in a technical team/organization
  • 5 years of experience coding in one or more general purpose coding languages
