Google is seeking a Staff Software Developer to join their reCAPTCHA Fraud Prevention team, focusing on protecting payment systems across more than 100,000 websites. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on development in fraud detection and prevention, specifically targeting payment-related attacks such as carding and chargeback fraud.

The position requires a seasoned professional with 8+ years of software development experience and strong expertise in machine learning, particularly in fraud detection and anomaly detection.   • Provide technical leadership on high-impact projects
  • Influence and coach a distributed team of developers
  • Facilitate alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines
  • Design, develop and be responsible for software systems specifically aimed at detecting and preventing fraudulent transactions for the payment systems
  • Solve deep technical challenges in integrating insights across reCAPTCHA ecosystem with the innovation of creating new signals and models to stop fraudsters in their tracks

Requirements For Staff Software Developer, reCAPTCHA Fraud Prevention

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • 2 years of applied machine learning experience building machine learning workflows and infrastructure
  • 2 years of experience building and developing infrastructure or distributed systems
  • Experience in a technical leadership role overseeing projects, or in a supervision/team leadership role
