Google App Engine (GAE) is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead their serverless container platform strategy. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on engineering, focusing on modernizing and sustaining GAE's infrastructure. You'll work at Google Cloud, which serves customers in over 200 countries, helping organizations digitally transform their businesses.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for advancing multi-year serverless container platform strategies and consolidating GAE feature development and operations in India. Responsibilities For Staff Software Engineer, Google App Engine, Serverless

  • Lead the idea and execution for GAE, starting with internal influence and leadership across Serverless partner organizations
  • Partner with executive engineers and product leaders to develop and execute shared stack modernization
  • Provide technical guidance and thought leadership to GAE and Serverless cross-team initiatives
  • Provide operational support with minimal supervision for production incidents
  • Improve the operational health by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing systematic improvements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • Master's degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (preferred)
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership role (preferred)
  • 3 years of experience working with cross-functional projects (preferred)
  • Experience architecting and developing software for scalable, distributed systems
  • Experience working with developer-focused products and tools
  • Experience building cloud products
