Description For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

Google's Trust & Safety team is at the forefront of protecting users and partners across all Google products. As a Strategic Risk Manager for Google Ads, you'll join an elite team of abuse-fighting and user trust experts working to make the internet safer. This role combines technical expertise, strategic thinking, and crisis management to identify and mitigate high-stakes risks.

You'll be part of the cross-product abuse and crisis management hub, coordinating responses to high-sensitivity escalations across Google's vast product ecosystem. The position requires strong analytical skills, excellent stakeholder management, and the ability to drive complex issues to resolution. Working with engineering teams, product managers, and policy specialists, you'll develop comprehensive solutions to combat abuse and maintain user trust.

Responsibilities For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Identify potential strategic risks to users or Google, conduct impact assessments, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop and lead short and long-term projects for crisis management
  • Review past incidents and identify context, root causes, and strategic actions for improvement
  • Foster collaboration across different departments to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Maintain and improve incident response SOPs
  • Utilize prioritization framework to work on key issues
  • Participate in globally consistent training program for incident response
  • Handle exposure to graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting content

Requirements For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Experience with managing escalations and crises, and working with teams and executives
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Master's degree or PhD (preferred)
  • Experience working with engineering and product teams
  • Familiarity with Google products, infrastructure, and types of online abuse
  • Ability to work across time zones, including weekend on-call work
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
