Description For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

Google's Trust & Safety team is seeking a Strategic Risk Manager to join their critical mission of protecting users and partners across Google's product ecosystem. This role sits at the intersection of security, policy, and user safety, working to identify and mitigate strategic risks across Google Ads and other products.

The position requires a seasoned professional with 7+ years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, or cybersecurity. You'll be part of the cross-product abuse and crisis management hub, coordinating responses to high-sensitivity escalations and driving issues to resolution. Working globally with engineering and product teams, you'll help develop solutions to complex abuse challenges while ensuring the highest levels of user safety.

As a Strategic Risk Manager, you'll be responsible for conducting impact assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and leading both short and long-term projects in crisis management. The role demands excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, as you'll work with various departments to deliver comprehensive solutions. You'll also contribute to maintaining and improving incident response procedures while participating in global training programs.

Responsibilities For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Identify potential strategic risks to users or Google, conduct impact assessments, and develop mitigation strategies
  • Develop and lead short and long-term projects for crisis management
  • Review past incidents and identify context, root causes, and strategic actions for improvement
  • Foster collaboration across different departments to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Maintain and improve incident response SOPs
  • Participate in globally consistent training program for incident response
  • Handle graphic, controversial, and/or upsetting content

Requirements For Strategic Risk Manager, Google Ads

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields
  • Experience with managing escalations and crises
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
  • Master's degree or PhD (preferred)
  • Experience working with engineering and product teams
  • Familiarity with Google products, infrastructure, and types of online abuse
  • Ability to work across time zones, including weekend on-call work
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
