Google's Trust & Safety team is seeking a Strategic Risk Manager to join their Strategic Command unit. This role is crucial in protecting users and partners from abuse across Google's diverse product portfolio including Search, Maps, Gmail, and Google Ads. The position requires a strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to user safety.

The role involves leading cross-functional response to high-sensitivity escalations, managing crisis situations, and developing comprehensive mitigation strategies. You'll be working at the intersection of risk management, crisis response, and user safety, coordinating with various teams to ensure swift and effective incident resolution.

Responsibilities For Strategic Risk Manager, Strategic Command

  • Identify potential strategic risks to users or Google, conduct impact assessments, and develop mitigation strategies to manage high-stakes events
  • Review past incidents and identify context, root causes, and strategic actions for improvement
  • Take command in and track issues/escalations throughout the lifecycle of an incident
  • Foster collaboration across different departments to deliver comprehensive solutions
  • Utilize our prioritization framework to consistently work on key issues

Requirements For Strategic Risk Manager, Strategic Command

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of experience in risk management, crisis management, or a related field
  • Experience in cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management across multiple issues
  • Experience with managing escalations and crises, and working with front-line teams and executives at the same time
