Description For Systems Architect, Data Centers, Google Cloud

Google's Cloud Supply Chain and Operations (CSCO) team is seeking a Systems Architect to shape the next generation of platforms. This role focuses on developing custom silicon solutions and strengthening Design for Operations requirements for various platforms, from network switches to machine learning pods. The position involves working with stakeholders across data center operations, manufacturing, and supply chain to optimize platform deployment, maintenance, and repairs.

As a Systems Architect, you'll be part of the Technical Infrastructure team, responsible for maintaining Google's data centers and building next-generation platforms. The role requires a unique blend of technical expertise in both hardware and software, with a focus on system architecture and design for data center platforms.

The ideal candidate will have at least 7 years of experience in System Architecture and Design, with a strong background in taking platforms from concept to production. You'll need excellent communication skills to work with various stakeholders and drive consensus across competing priorities. Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) and Machine Learning (ML) systems is highly valued.

Responsibilities For Systems Architect, Data Centers, Google Cloud

  • Identify operational risks of the system design to enable rapid deployment and minimize downtime during repairs
  • Mitigate the operational risks through collaboration with partners in Hardware, Software, and Tooling teams
  • Crystallize the tradeoffs between systems design and operational excellence to enable decisions, from the engineer level to the executive level
  • Oversee the validation and tactical execution of the system design requirements, from ideation to ramp
  • Align stakeholders across competing vectors through clear communication of updates, escalations, and achievements

Requirements For Systems Architect, Data Centers, Google Cloud

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in System Architecture and Design for data center platforms
  • Experience with systems development and taking platforms from concept to production
  • Experience with hardware, software, and tooling
  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred)
  • Experience in representing stakeholders during executive-level planning and prioritization exercises (preferred)
  • Experience as a Systems Architect for High Performance Computing (HPC) and Machine Learning (ML) systems (preferred)
  • Strong communication and multi-tasking skills in an environment of shifting priorities (preferred)
  • Excellent consensus-driven leadership skills to define strategy, drive execution, and resolve conflict (preferred)
