Description For Systems Development Engineer, Customer Deployments, Google Cloud

As a Systems Development Engineer at Google Cloud, you will be responsible for deploying Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDCH) solutions at customer sites and internal reference deployments. This role involves managing services and systems at scale, automating processes, and focusing on observability. You'll work on meaningful projects in a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and risk-taking.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Performing complex troubleshooting of infrastructure issues (Network, Storage, Servers, OS, Kubernetes, etc.)
  2. Interacting with customers and internal development teams
  3. Participating in customer, partner, and internal team deployments and training (requiring international travel)
  4. Contributing to train-the-trainer programs
  5. Participating in 24x7 on-call rotation for escalation support

The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with 2 years of experience in production distributed environments. Knowledge of Linux, Kubernetes, networking, and storage is essential. Experience with TCP/IP and various networking concepts is required. The role may require up to 25% international travel and the ability to obtain a Level 2 security clearance (SÜ2) under the German Classification Act.
