Systems Development Engineer, Networking

Systems Development Engineering (SDE) at Google is a role where you manage services and systems at scale. SDEs creatively put their engineering discipline to use automating the mundane and reducing toil. As a Systems Development Engineer for Google Distributed Cloud Hosted (GDCH), you will advocate the use of our own products and services networking capabilities within our internal reference GDCH deployments. You will build deep expertise in deploying and operating GDCH solutions. You will define clear objectives, processes, and metrics for internal reference GDCH deployments, deploy and manage GDCH deployments using public documentation, collect and analyze feedback, and communicate findings to development teams. You will also participate in customer, partner, and internal team deployments and training, which will require international travel.

This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT-related field (or equivalent practical experience), 5 years of experience working in production distributed environments, and extensive knowledge of networking concepts and technologies. You must be able to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance (SÜ2) under the German Classification Act (SÜG). The ideal candidate will have experience in SRE or IT production systems engineering, understanding of Linux, Kubernetes, and Storage, excellent relationship-building and communication skills, and the ability to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.
