Google Cloud is seeking a Technical Lead for System Level Performance Simulation to join their innovative team. This role combines leadership, technical expertise, and strategic thinking to drive the development of high-fidelity system-level simulation frameworks. As a technical lead, you'll work at the intersection of hardware and software, collaborating with various teams to optimize workloads and define performance models for Google's custom silicon.

The position offers an attractive compensation package of $237,000-$337,000 plus bonus, equity, and comprehensive benefits. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of software development experience, with deep expertise in performance simulation, distributed systems, and large-scale data analysis. Responsibilities For Technical Lead, System Level Performance Simulation

  • Serve as technical lead for a team of engineers in developing and maintaining high-fidelity system-level simulation frameworks
  • Develop the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models
  • Engage with infrastructure and Product area teams to help optimize workloads
  • Collaborate with hardware and software architects to define performance models and benchmarks
  • Motivate the evaluation of different architectural choices and identify performance bottlenecks
  • Communicate simulation results and recommendations to key stakeholders

Requirements For Technical Lead, System Level Performance Simulation

Python
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • 5 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging
  • Experience in performance simulation (e.g., SimpleScalar, gem5, Sniper)
  • Experience with large-scale distributed systems, networking, and OS
  • Experience with Python, C++ with Object Oriented Programming
  • Ability to root cause performance bottlenecks
