Description For Technical Program Manager, Capacity and Demand

Google's Technical Program Manager role in the Capacity and Demand planning team focuses on managing critical infrastructure planning for Google Cloud Platform. The position involves overseeing demand planning for cloud services, machine learning, shared services, and data center power forecasting. You'll work at the intersection of product areas, supply chain execution, and data center planning, managing multi-billion dollar OpEx decisions.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects, working with internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. The role requires both technical expertise and leadership skills to manage project schedules, identify risks, and communicate effectively with executives and engineers alike.

The position is central to Google's infrastructure growth, helping optimize both speed and efficiency as Google expands its data center capacity globally. You'll be part of the Technical Infrastructure team, which builds and maintains the architecture behind Google's entire product portfolio.

  • Be a highly credible thought leader within Google and industry on the subject matter domain of the respective organization
  • Establish a reliable and visible cadence for portfolio reviews, decision-making, prioritization, and resource management
  • Drive measurable program performance gains correlated to execution velocity
  • Be a change advocate responsible for initiating and leading multiple organizations through pivots
  • Lead a strategic planning framework for a program portfolio including direct influence over resourcing decisions

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Capacity and Demand

Kubernetes
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 10 years of technical program management experience and managing cross-functional or cross-team projects
  • 7 years of experience in leadership roles with direct reports
  • 5 years of experience managing projects
  • 7 years of experience supervising teams (preferred)
  • Ability to exercise technical judgment and influence team members in solving software engineering tests (preferred)
