Description For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Design

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for Data Center Design to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. This role is crucial in the Technical Infrastructure team, responsible for developing and maintaining Google's data centers and building next-generation platforms. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with project management skills to work with stakeholders, plan requirements, identify risks, and manage project schedules.

The role involves leading cross-functional product development initiatives, managing the product lifecycle process, and working closely with various teams across data centers. You'll be responsible for executing product insertions, delivering innovative designs, and establishing streamlined supply chains while meeting cost and schedule goals.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll need to be equally comfortable explaining complex analyses to executives and discussing technical tradeoffs with engineers. The position requires strong leadership skills to manage project meetings, resources, budgets, and communication plans while ensuring product validation aligns with key performance indicators.

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Design

  • Execute scope for cross-functional product development of new products and programs to address undefined challenges with limited guidance
  • Lead products through the product lifecycle process driving scope, schedule, cost, and resource management using existing processes
  • Work with partner teams across data centers to execute product insertions, delivering innovative designs
  • Lead project meetings, provide updates, manage resources, budgets, schedules, contract scopes of work, risk management, and communications plans
  • Ensure the validation and verification of products align to all key performance indicators and provide visibility to all partners and stakeholders on progress

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Data Center Design

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience in program or technical project management
  • Experience evaluating and managing risk of product and programs, implementing mitigation plans
  • Experience being involved in design specifications of Data Center facility, product designs, and electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering
