Description For Technical Program Manager, Global Networking and Infrastructure Intake and Management

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager to join their Global Networking and Infrastructure team. This role is crucial in managing and coordinating complex network infrastructure projects that power Google's vast technical infrastructure. The position requires a blend of technical expertise in networking technologies and strong program management skills.

The role involves working with various teams to handle networking requests, develop executable plans, and provide technical guidance for cloud infrastructure. You'll be responsible for coordinating with cross-functional teams including GNT, GNS, GND, ELS, NOSCO, and Network Finance to ensure smooth project execution and delivery.

As a Technical Program Manager, you'll be the bridge between technical teams and executive leadership, presenting network plans, costs, and timelines. The role requires deep understanding of networking technologies including IP transit/peering, dark fiber, optical networks, and cloud technologies. You'll be responsible for improving business processes, increasing accuracy, and decreasing cycle times for network expansion requests.

The position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge networking infrastructure at a massive scale, contributing to the architecture that powers Google's product portfolio. You'll be part of the Technical Infrastructure team that ensures Google's networks provide the best and fastest experience possible for users worldwide.

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Global Networking and Infrastructure Intake and Management

  • Work with cross-functional asset acquisition, asset design, vendor management and deployment teams to execution transparency to Cloud on the execution status and health of Cloud related network projects
  • Partner with tech leads across the organization to define and improve business processes
  • Lead company wide network initiatives from concept to plan definition and to execution teams
  • Present network plans, costs and timelines to leadership within GGN and Cloud

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Global Networking and Infrastructure Intake and Management

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program or technical project management
  • Experience with IP transit/peering, dark fiber, colocation, optical transport, and cloud technologies and industry processes
  • Experience in telecommunications at carrier-class scale, with experience of optical networks, DWDM, IP and data services
  • Experience presenting to executive audiences to represent projects from business, product and technical perspectives
