Description For Technical Program Manager, HR Engineering, Core Project Management Organization

Google's HR Engineering team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to join their Core Project Management Organization. This role involves managing complex, cross-functional technical programs within the HR Engineering department, which is responsible for building systems used to hire, grow, and retain Google's talent.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will:

  • Drive centralized planning and execution of complex, cross-functional engineering efforts
  • Establish governance over prioritization decisions
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive-level stakeholders
  • Define project success metrics and track progress
  • Perform technical due diligence to evaluate engineering scope and resources

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management
  • Experience in human resources technology processes
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong program management fundamentals

  • Establish governance over prioritization decisions to ensure alignment with key success metrics
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive-level stakeholders across diverse teams
  • Define relevant project success metrics, track progress, and communicate results
  • Design and execute portfolio tracking mechanics
  • Perform technical due diligence to evaluate engineering scope, determine milestones, timeframe, and engineering resourcing needs

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, coordinating cross-organizational technical programs
  • Experience in helping teams measure and improve operational excellence, product excellence, equity, and accessibility
  • Experience with human resources technology process/industry
  • Excellent leadership, people, and communication skills
  • Excellent program management fundamentals on technical cross-functional projects
  • Excellent problem-solving, agreement discussions, and organizational skills
