Description For Technical Program Manager, HR Engineering, Core Project Management Organization

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for HR Engineering in the Core Project Management Organization. This role involves managing complex, cross-functional technical programs within Google's HR Engineering team, which is responsible for building systems used to hire, grow, and retain Google's talent. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent program management skills, and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Driving centralized planning and execution of complex, cross-functional engineering efforts
  2. Establishing governance over prioritization decisions
  3. Building relationships with executive-level stakeholders
  4. Defining project success metrics and tracking progress
  5. Performing technical due diligence to evaluate engineering scope and resources

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, 5 years of experience in technical program management, and expertise in operational excellence, product excellence, equity, and accessibility. Preferred qualifications include experience with HR technology, excellent leadership and communication skills, and strong problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, HR Engineering, Core Project Management Organization

  • Own and drive centralized planning and execution of complex, cross-functional, multi-pillar engineering efforts
  • Establish governance over prioritization decisions to ensure alignment with key success metrics
  • Build and maintain relationships with executive-level stakeholders across diverse teams
  • Define relevant project success metrics, track progress, and communicate results to executives and project partners
  • Design and execute portfolio tracking mechanics for informed decision making and risk management
  • Perform technical due diligence to evaluate engineering scope, determine milestones, timeframe, and engineering resourcing needs

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in technical program management, coordinating cross-organizational technical programs
  • Experience in helping teams measure and improve operational excellence, product excellence, equity, and accessibility
  • Experience with human resources technology process/industry (preferred)
  • Excellent leadership, people, and communication skills
  • Excellent program management fundamentals on technical cross-functional projects
  • Excellent problem-solving, agreement discussions, and organizational skills
