Description For Technical Program Manager I, Geo Capacity Planning, Infrastructure

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you'll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You'll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Geo Capacity Planning team is a central team that works across all Product Areas within Google to manage Geo's infrastructure cost and growth objectives. The team forecasts and secures infrastructure resources to enable the growth needs of Geo products and also manages the provisioning of these resources to the Geo service owners.

Responsibilities: • Leverage data analytics to determine short-term operational and long-term strategic risks. • Track the life-cycle of capacity requests across multiple resource pools submitted by Geo from submission to provisioning all the way to actual launch of the features. • Partner with the engineering teams and PMO to provide program management support to drive resource efficiency efforts. • Develop reports and dashboards to understand Geo's infrastructure spend and to determine cost drivers to drive efficiencies. • Manage Flex Pool health by driving multiple initiatives with SRE and Engineering Partners by reducing ceiling Over Subscription, optimizing Spanner and Bigtable services, adopting Virtual Cells, managing service moves, and more.

Requirements For Technical Program Manager I, Geo Capacity Planning, Infrastructure

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 1 year of experience in program management
  • Experience working with SQL, capacity planning and data analytics
