Description For Technical Program Manager, Pixel Software

Google's Pixel team is seeking a Technical Program Manager to lead the development of end-to-end product features for Pixel devices. This role sits at the intersection of hardware and software, working with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality features for Google's mobile experience. The position requires strong technical expertise in mobile and embedded systems, combined with excellent program management skills.

The role involves managing complex, large-scale software engineering projects, working closely with Hardware, Software, Product Management, and external Pixel partners. You'll be responsible for planning requirements, identifying risks, managing project schedules, and ensuring effective cross-functional collaboration across geographies.

The Pixel team's mission is to design and deliver the world's most helpful mobile experience, bringing together Google's AI, software, and hardware expertise. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of Pixel devices and services, working on cutting-edge consumer electronics that create transformative user experiences.

As a TPM, you'll need to balance technical understanding with project management skills, being equally comfortable discussing architecture-level technical implementations and communicating project status to executive stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mobile technologies, embedded software development, and a proven track record of managing cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Pixel Software

  • Manage large scale software engineering projects working with multiple teams on cross-functional initiatives
  • Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management
  • Proactively remove obstacles to drive momentum and progress
  • Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives
  • Work closely with leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Pixel Software

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience with consumer electronics development
  • 5 years of experience in program management
  • Experience working with mobile technologies or software hardware integration
  • Experience in embedded software development
  • Advanced Degree in an engineering or technical field (preferred)
  • 5 years of project/program management experience (preferred)
  • 5 years of experience managing cross-functional projects (preferred)
  • Experience in mobile devices, hardware, software, embedded software and Android software development (preferred)
