Description For Technical Program Manager, Pixel Watch and Fitbit Device Software

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for the Pixel Watch and Fitbit Device Software team. This role involves managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, working with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate with cross-functional partners. The ideal candidate will have technical expertise and be comfortable explaining analyses and recommendations to executives as well as discussing technical tradeoffs with engineers.

The Pixel Watch and Fitbit devices team brings together the best of Google hardware, AI, and first-party software apps and experiences to millions of users. The team works with major software subsystems such as core bring-up, system health, performance, thermal, power, graphics, display, sensors, etc. They collaborate with the Product team to define requirements and success criteria, work with Hardware teams to bring up new components and devices, and play a key role in shipping high-quality products.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, 2 years of experience in program or technical management, and experience with mobile devices, hardware, software, or embedded software. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the product life cycle, be self-driven and proactive, able to work through ambiguity, and possess excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Pixel Watch and Fitbit Device Software

  • Manage complex and large-scale software projects, work with multiple teams on cross-functional initiatives, and interface with Engineering Managers and Engineers across both hardware and software to estimate work efforts, define milestones, and manage resources
  • Track progress, resolve dependencies, evaluate risks and communicate status to upper management and project stakeholders
  • Remove obstacles proactively to drive momentum and progress. Identify communication gaps, manage issue escalations, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities
  • Understand technical implementation at the system/architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary. Develop broad domain and technical knowledge
  • Work closely with our leads and partners to ensure software and roadmap feature alignment for current and future programs
  • Identify process gaps/issues in our development and create solutions to scale execution efficiency
