Description For Technical Program Manager, Submarine Networks

Google is seeking a Technical Program Manager for their Submarine Networks team to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects related to subsea cable systems. This role combines technical expertise with program management skills to oversee the deployment and management of submarine cable infrastructure. The position involves working with various stakeholders to plan requirements, manage risks, and coordinate cross-functional teams. Responsibilities For Technical Program Manager, Submarine Networks

  • Confirm subsea network requirements with internal stakeholders
  • Manage the procurement process for cable systems, recommend vendor selection, and manage supply agreement discussions
  • Lead cross-functional teams in project execution
  • Review and validate engineering decisions for cable routes and protection, landing point selections, shore-end solutions, and marine installation methods
  • Collaborate with vendors on permit acquisition strategies
  • Monitor permit application processes and risks, develop mitigations, and assess schedule impacts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the readiness of cable landing stations, fronthaul, backhaul, and beach infrastructure
  • Manage vendor performance for contracted deliverables, quality, budget, and schedule

Requirements For Technical Program Manager, Submarine Networks

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in program management
  • 3 years of experience with optical technologies (client transceivers, optical metro and long-haul DWDM systems, or submarine systems)
  • Technical understanding of submarine cable project deployment
  • Strong organizational, multitasking and prioritization abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Data-driven analytical approach to solving complex challenges
  • English proficiency
