Description For Technical Solutions Engineer, Google Distributed Cloud (Airgapped)

As a Technical Solutions Engineer for Google Distributed Cloud (Airgapped), you will be a key technical liaison embedded within our GT3 customer environment. You'll act as a proactive problem-solver and bridge between the customer and Google's support team, taking initiative to own important customer issues and provide support to other teams. You'll be part of a global team offering 24/7 support to help customers transition to Google Cloud products.

Your responsibilities include:

  1. Managing customer problems through effective diagnosis and resolution
  2. Developing in-depth understanding of Google's product technology and architectures
  3. Acting as a consultant and subject matter expert for internal stakeholders
  4. Working as part of a global team ensuring 24-hour customer support
  5. Understanding and advocating for customer needs with cross-functional teams

You'll troubleshoot technical issues using a mix of debugging, networking, system administration, documentation updates, and coding/scripting when necessary. The role requires working in shift patterns or non-standard hours, including weekends.

Key qualifications include:

  • 4+ years of experience with IaaS solutions and cloud storage solutions
  • 4+ years of experience with networking fundamentals
  • 4+ years of experience in debugging/troubleshooting workload issues and incident management
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Ability to pass enhanced background checks and hold German citizenship

Preferred qualifications include experience with large-scale distributed production environments, programming languages, troubleshooting large-scale applications, data analysis, and on-site customer work.

This role is crucial in driving the success of Google Cloud by understanding and advocating for customer issues, ensuring swift problem resolution, and contributing to the improvement of Google Cloud products.

  • 4 years of experience with IaaS solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, system virtualization, on-premise or hybrid cloud computing) and cloud storage solutions
  • 4 years of experience with networking fundamentals (e.g., TCP/IP, Routing, VPNs, VLANs, Peering, Load Balancing, etc.)
  • 4 years of experience debugging/troubleshooting workload issues across multi-node environments, and with resolving P1 cases or incident management
  • Ability to communicate in German and English fluently
  • Ability to pass enhanced background checks and hold German Citizenship
