Description For Thermal Engineer, Pixel Watch

Google's Devices & Services team is seeking a Thermal Engineer for the Pixel Watch project to join their Structural and Thermal Simulation team. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with thermal design and analysis to shape the future of Google's wearable technology. The position requires strong experience in thermal design, CFD modeling, and validation testing.

As a Thermal Engineer, you'll be working with a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team, applying your creativity and engineering experience to solve complex thermal challenges in wearable technology. You'll be responsible for conducting thermal analysis, creating and validating simulation models, and providing crucial design guidance for upcoming Watch products.

The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to optimize product thermal performance and develop effective thermal management strategies. You'll use advanced CFD tools and your expertise in heat transfer and fluid mechanics to ensure the Pixel Watch meets its performance and reliability targets.

This position offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of consumer technology, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application in a product development environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in thermal design and CFD analysis, with a strong background in mechanical engineering. Responsibilities For Thermal Engineer, Pixel Watch

  • Influence product direction through cross-functional negotiations and teamwork based on thermal design, simulation (CFD), and validation
  • Create test plans to validate design and correlate test results to simulation data, and improve predictability of simulation models
  • Interpret and summarize thermal data, highlight risks, and provide recommendations to program teams and upper management
  • Guide cross-functional team members in hardware and software to provide feedback on product thermal performance, thermal throttling strategy, and appropriate design changes
  • Work with certification agencies on meeting requirements and mitigating concerns

Requirements For Thermal Engineer, Pixel Watch

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5 years of experience in thermal design using CFD tools such as Icepak/FlothermXT for analysis of products
  • Experience with heat transfer and fluid mechanics
